I Liked a Post About Garbage, It Wasn't Forgiven, I Resigned. Babken Mkrtchyan

Yesterday, Babken Mkrtchyan, a former employee of the Davtashen administrative district in Yerevan, announced his resignation via a post on his Facebook page. According to him, his bonus was cut due to a Facebook like he made.

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, Babken Mkrtchyan stated, “In the meeting, they told me not to like the negative posts about the mayor. I liked posts regarding waste management. The city is currently buried in garbage. The grass in Yerevan should be green this season, but instead, it is yellow.”

“Prior to that, he had also told me not to like posts written by Ruslan Baghdasaryan. Besides calling me in, he has repeatedly conveyed through others that I should not do such things. When I asked why my bonus was reduced, he clarified that it was because I liked posts on Facebook against the mayor. I said that then I no longer want to work,” he added.

“Tumasyan urged me to think carefully, saying that I am one of the best employees and he wouldn’t want me to leave. The neighborhood head claims that I received a 100% bonus in the first quarter; everyone got that, not just me. Regarding not receiving bonuses in the past, yes, I didn’t receive it, but I did get the fuel allowance I was entitled to monthly.”
