New X-Ray Devices Installed at National Assembly Checkpoints, 85 Million AMD Allocated for Acquisition
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that "New X-Ray scanning equipment has been installed at the Baghramyan checkpoint of the National Assembly for several days now, and installation work will soon be completed at the Demirchyan checkpoint as well. As is known, the government had made a decision to acquire new equipment during its meeting on May 28, allocating 85 million AMD from the government reserve fund for this purpose.
The staff of the National Assembly justified that the X-Ray scanning devices installed at three checkpoints of the building are either out of order or have been decommissioned. A study of the existing equipment was conducted at the request of the National Assembly staff, and according to a letter addressed to the head of the State Protection Service of Armenia, the X-Ray scanning devices Rapiscan 519 s/n 064588H and Rapiscan 520 s/n 983056 installed at the National Assembly checkpoints have been in use since 1998 and have already served for around 20 years.
These devices have long been outdated, making the provision of necessary spare parts increasingly difficult and costly. Therefore, it is deemed advisable to acquire modern models of the said equipment to ultimately resolve the security system. Additionally, at the entrance near the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, a metal detector arch device will be installed instead of an X-Ray machine at the two checkpoints mentioned.
