Contaminated Stork Specimen Transferred for Examination

In the Hovtashen community of the Ararat region, an administrative process has been initiated by the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body regarding the contamination of storks. The source of the bird contamination is the presence of an oily layer in the water bodies surrounding the Hovtashen community.

This information has been provided by the press service of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body.

Laboratory investigations have been conducted on the water bodies of the area, including various sections of the Hrazdan River and surrounding canals.

To identify the substances present in the rivers, a stork specimen with oily feathers has been transferred to the Scientific Center for Hydroecology in Animal Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

Studies are being carried out at businesses where it may be possible for the mentioned substances to leak. Work is ongoing to identify the primary source of contamination.

Once the results of the laboratory investigations by the Scientific Center for Hydroecology in Animal Studies and the Inspection Body are compiled and summarized, the prepared materials will be forwarded to law enforcement agencies.

The issue is under the attention of the Inspection Body.
