Drugs Discovered on Iranians Vacationing in Sevan Peninsula
On July 27, at 17:50, operational information received by the Gegharkunik Regional Department of Police was acted upon in cooperation with the Sevan Division. Two Iranian citizens, aged 27 and 25, were detained on suspicion of drug use and possession while at a police post located on the Sevan Peninsula.
During a personal search, a cigarette box was found containing a partially smoked joint. One of the Iranians stated that the discovered substance was a drug he had picked up on July 26 while traveling from Tehran to Yerevan, which he smoked and shared with a friend at the Sevan Peninsula.
During a search of the friend's belongings, another cigarette box was discovered, containing five joints filled with the same substance. He claimed that the drugs belonged to his friend. A forensic chemical examination has been ordered.
