Citizen Hands Over Entire Arsenal to Police
In recent months, the police have been actively working to encourage the public to voluntarily surrender illegal weapons and ammunition in exchange for immunity from criminal prosecution, provided that it is confirmed through examination that the surrendered items were not used in other incidents.
According to information from G. Shamshyan, today a 59-year-old resident, referred to as H. Kh., from one of the villages in the Armavir region voluntarily presented himself to the Armavir police and handed over the following: one grenade launcher with four live rounds, one AKM-type assault rifle with two magazines, two smoke grenades, four F1 hand grenades with detonators, one RGD-type hand grenade, 293 rounds of 7.6 mm caliber ammunition, and 257 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber ammunition.
Materials are being prepared at the investigative division of the Armavir police in connection with the incident. H. Kh. informed law enforcement that the items he surrendered belonged to his brother, who was killed on April 24, 1994, during self-defense battles in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
