8-Year-Old Armen Saves Older Child from Drowning in Canal

In the village of Argina, located in the Armavir region, 8-year-old Armen helped save an older child who had fallen into a canal, preventing him from drowning. In an interview with NEWS.am, Armen's mother, Agapi Petrosyan, shared details about the incident that occurred on July 16 when the children went to play at a fast-flowing canal known as 'Main Aru.'

“While playing, one of the children, who is a few years older than Armen, jumped into the water. Another one said that if he couldn't swim, they would rescue him from the stream. The child entered the water, was unable to swim, and began to drown. Armen remained calm, found a rope, tied it to a stone, and threw it into the canal for the child to grab. He shouted very loudly for help. Fortunately, there were workers in the nearby orchards who came to assist and managed to rescue the child,” Agapi recounted.

Agapi noted that while Armen did not pull the child directly out of the canal, his quick thinking was crucial, and had he not acted appropriately at that moment, the outcome could have been tragic.
