Ijevan Residents Open Inter-State Road: Details from the Incident, MP

Protesters have opened the inter-state road connecting Armenia and Georgia. This was reported by Gayane Abrahamyan, a member of the parliamentary faction "My Step," on her Facebook page.

"As a result of negotiations, the road has been opened; I will write about the remaining issues later," she stated.

Later, the MP periodically updated the information on her page:

NEWS UPDATE 2, 02:43. I just spoke with Suren Papikyan; they are still working at this hour, currently at the hospital where 12 injured individuals are receiving treatment.

NEWS UPDATE 1, 23:50. At this moment, as a result of negotiations, the road has been opened; I will write about the remaining issues later.

The violence that occurred in Ijevan is unacceptable, and all of this is incited by those who have previously profited by devastating the forests, teaching people who earn their daily bread that they can sell both the country and the forests and even Lake Sevan.

Members of the "My Step" faction, Sipan Pashinyan and Hakob Simidyan, along with Ministers Suren Papikyan and Erik Grigoryan, Tavush Governor Hayk Chobanyan, and Police Chief Valery Osipyan have long been on site; the problems will be resolved, but it is crucial to ultimately understand and accept that violence as a method of raising issues and demanding solutions is unacceptable and should be excluded at all levels of our relations.

ADDITION: As a result of the clashes in Ijevan, 13 individuals have been transferred to the medical center of Ijevan. The injured are undergoing necessary examinations. The injuries are mostly in the form of abrasions or light contusions. The latter are under the supervision of doctors, and some will be discharged after repeat examinations.
