The Number of Police Officers Injured in Ijevan Clash Has Reached 11: Details

The number of police officers injured in a clash that occurred in Ijevan about an hour ago has reached 11.

Injured officers have been transported to the Ijevan Medical Center. The chief physician of the center, Vazgen Margaryan, said in an interview with the Armenian Times that only one of the injured officers is in critical condition and has been hospitalized with craniofacial and nasal injuries. "The patient has a concussion," the chief physician added.

According to Vazgen Margaryan, the majority of those brought in are police officers, while civilian individuals are not coming forward to register as they fear being identified by their sponsors. Naturally, as they will be questioned when police officers arrive, they try to avoid it and flee to their homes.

The chief physician of the Ijevan Medical Center noted that the injuries are mainly due to stone and wood projectiles thrown from a distance.

It is important to recall that there was a confrontation about half an hour ago between protesters blocking the road in Ijevan and the police. The police attempted to suppress the demonstrators, who opposed and started a scuffle with stones.
