Strange Incident at the Morgue: Internal Organs Handed Over to Relatives in a Bag

The newspaper "Zhoghvorud" reports: A remarkable incident recently occurred in the Vardenis community of Gegharkunik Province. Specifically, a resident from this region contacted "Zhoghvorud", expressing dissatisfaction regarding the Vardenis morgue. According to the citizen, just a few days ago, the body of their relative was autopsied in Vardenis, and the internal organs were placed in a bag and given to the deceased's relatives with the instruction: "Take it back, throw it in the pit."

Following this alarming report, "Zhoghvorud" spoke with forensic doctor Artashes Khachatryan from the Vardenis region of Gegharkunik, who stated that during the autopsy, the internal organs of the deceased are treated and sealed within the abdominal cavity. "I don’t know who they gave it to or what they did. This has never happened during my practice; it definitely hasn’t happened. I am the forensic doctor in Vardenis, and the person performing the autopsy is the sanitary worker. He does his job, and in the end, the organs are placed back in the abdomen, sutured," explained the forensic doctor.

"Zhoghvorud" also spoke with pathologist Garik Aghabekyan. "Such incidents have happened in the past, but then it was banned. Proper treatment must be done, and then it must be placed back into the body for burial. In such cases, it should be buried with the body, as there may be further complaints, and the issue of exhumation could arise," he noted.

Additionally, "Zhoghvorud" spoke with Lilit Hunanian, a representative of the Health and Labor Inspection Agency, as this agency is responsible for inspecting morgues. "We recently received a complaint regarding the forensic-anatomical department's morgue, and an administrative process has been initiated and is currently underway. There are sanitary norms and regulations, and we oversee compliance with these," the specialist informed.
