Investigative Committee Provides Clarification Regarding Amulsar
Naira Harutyunyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, recently made a statement regarding the incident that occurred in Amulsar.
"Considering the public interest, we inform you that the information circulated by various individuals in recent days suggesting that the investigators and experts of the Investigative Committee visited the Amulsar mine on June 13 using vehicles belonging to ‘Lydian Armenia’ is intended to undermine the comprehensiveness, objectivity, and thoroughness of the investigation. We would like to clarify that the expert groups have always entered the territory of the Amulsar mine under the guidance of the conducting body, obtaining the necessary instructions and protective safety gear beforehand.
As for entering the mine area using vehicles belonging to ‘Lydian Armenia’, it should be noted that access to the mine area is only possible with special vehicles, whose purpose is to ensure the safety of the expert group; such vehicles were provided by the company at the request of the conducting body. There are various comments from individuals suggesting that the expert group should enter the mine area without the employees of ‘Lydian Armenia’. In this regard, we would like to state that the conducting body determines the circle of participants in procedural actions based on the principles of comprehensiveness, thoroughness, and objectivity of the criminal case."
