Small Airports Are Not Profitable: Aviation Enthusiasts Are Needed, Tatvik Revazyan

For 30 years, we have been saying that we are developing small aviation, but why is it not progressing? The problem is that there has not been motivation, since flying with a small aircraft is more difficult than flying with a large aircraft; issues can arise.

During a conversation with journalists, the head of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia, Tatvik Revazyan, stated, “Now we are trying to understand how to ensure the safety of small airports. Legislative changes are necessary to solve this problem.”

“Negotiations with the private sector are really important for the development of this field. It should be understood that there is no money here; a person will not come to develop small aviation because they want to make big profits. Here, there need to be people who love aviation. I would like to point out that there are already two individuals who have registered their aircraft. We are standing by those who wish to develop this sector,” Revazyan said.

She also mentioned that the condition of Armenia's small airports is very poor. “Investment is needed to bring the runway to a standard where flights can be safe,” she added.
