Official Will Not Necessarily Be an Older Man with a Belly and Bald Head, Revazyan
I was not offended; I just found it a bit funny. This was stated today by the head of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia, Tatevik Revazyan, during a press conference, commenting on MP Edmon Marukyan's remark referring to her as a 'pretty girl.'
'For me, it's important that there is a change in mindset in Armenia, that we learn that an official does not necessarily have to be an older man with a belly and a bald head. We need to start embracing a new image. I did not fit any criteria before joining civil aviation, because I was not that kind of person, and it was difficult for many to accept that,' said Revazyan.
According to Revazyan, one of the biggest obstacles to bringing new airlines to Armenia is the high costs within the country. 'We will propose changes to the law regarding the fee for airspace. Both the Zvartnots tariffs and the price of airspace are high, at 10,000 drams. This is not a small amount,' noted Revazyan, adding, 'We want to propose eliminating the airspace fee for new routes.'
She stated that "RyanAir" and "WizzAir" airlines agreed to enter Armenia in 2020, provided the proposed changes regarding the airspace fee are removed and Zvartnots is ready to reconsider its tariffs for new routes. The committee head mentioned that she has a written agreement with these companies.
