Mother and Daughter Among Those Killed in Landslide, Lori Province Administration Issues Statement
The Lori Province Administration has released a statement regarding the tragic incident that occurred in the region. “With deep sorrow, we inform that at 13:56 today, the emergency service received a report that two of three passengers in a 'Gazelle' vehicle have died as a result of a landslide on the highway adjacent to the Naghots community. Vardan Mkrtumyan, born in 1984, was inside the vehicle with his wife and daughter at the time of the landslide.
His wife, Karine, and daughter, Lilia, died from severe injuries incompatible with life, while Vardan Mkrtumyan has been transported to Yerevan diagnosed with a spinal fracture.
At the time of the disaster, a VAZ 21-04 vehicle was also in the area, but fortunately, there were no passengers inside.
The Lori Province Administration expresses its deepest condolences to the relatives of the deceased and wishes a swift recovery to the family’s father, Vardan Mkrtumyan. At the directive of Governor Andrey Ghukasian, the administration's health and social security department has taken all necessary measures to provide medical assistance to the injured.”
