Georgia May Ban Land Import of Wheat Starting October; Bread and Meat Prices in Armenia to Rise
According to the newspaper "Zhamanak", "Last year, the Georgian government decided to ban the import of wheat by road to Armenia starting from September 1, 2018, citing overloaded Georgian roads as the reason. The Armenian government managed to lift that ban, but the issue is becoming relevant again. This time, the ban could take effect starting October 1. If that occurs, it could lead to a severe concentration in the wheat and flour market, resulting in higher prices for bread and meat. Most of the grain feeds necessary for pork and poultry are also imported from Russia."
