Why Flight Tickets from Tbilisi to Yerevan and Vice Versa Have Increased Multiple Times

In general, during the summer season, the prices of tickets for all flights coming to our region increase, and this time it also applies to the Georgian flights. Stepan Payaslian, the deputy head of the Air Transport Regulation Department of the Civil Aviation Committee, explained this in an interview with NEWS.am.

“Airlines have several types of categories when selling tickets; the same economy class has different categories at different prices. The Georgian airline has never operated at full capacity, meaning the aircraft has not always been full. Now, the aircraft not only operates at maximum capacity, but the flights have also doubled, as it used to fly once a day and now it flies twice a day. I have also spoken with the airline, and it was clear to me that the cheap category tickets that could have been purchased previously are not available this season,” he noted.

Stepan Payaslian emphasized that cheaper tickets for the summer have already been purchased much earlier. “It is not that prices are being raised; rather, the cheap category tickets for the summer have been bought, and during the summer, people are left with expensive tickets,” he stated.

He mentioned that he had a conversation with a representative of the airline, who indicated that if they find available aircraft, they could increase the frequency of flights in this direction.
