Who Are the Newly Elected Judges of the Supreme Judicial Council?
The General Assembly of Judges has just concluded the voting results for the judges selected as members of the Supreme Judicial Council, reports News.am.
Ruben Vardazaryan and Mesrop Makyan, judges of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, have been elected as members of the SJC.
Previously, during the session of the assembly, the judge of the Court of Cassation, Nakshun Tavaratsyan, who had declined to become a member of the Supreme Judicial Council nine months ago through a written application, took an oath to become a member.
It is noteworthy that the competition for vacant positions on the SJC involved 11 judges from first-instance courts, including Davit Balayan, Anahit Tumanyan, Vahe Khalatyan, Gagik Hovhannisyan, Varduhi Hovnanyan, Simizar Hovsepyan, Argishti Ghazaryan, Mesrop Makyan, Suren Mnoyan, Ruben Vardazaryan, and Elena Kocharyan. Earlier, 66 judges from first-instance courts submitted requests not to include their names on the ballot.
