No Farmer Would Even Think of Such a Thing. The Mayor of Karchaghbyur to the Minister
No farmer would even think that the death of their cow could be presented in such a way as to receive compensation from the state. This was stated by Taron Kocharyan, the mayor of Karchaghbyur community in Gegharkunik province, in an interview with NEWS.am.
The mayor does not recall any cases where the state provided compensation for the deaths of livestock.
He explains the presence of animals near the lake by their grazing there: “The cattle have been grazing near the lake all season; there are cases of death, but they were mass poisoned that day. That means it could be from the pasture,” he noted.
The mayor is also reluctant to think that the deaths of the animals were caused by water from Lake Sevan: “No, it could be from the stream. A laboratory examination is currently being conducted, and they will likely announce the results tomorrow.”
It is recalled that today in the National Assembly, the Minister of Environment mentioned that farmers were simply advised to bring their animals closer to the lake and inform that the deaths were due to the water, anticipating that the state would provide certain compensation under those circumstances.
