Environmentalist Proposes Solutions for Lake Sevan's Rescue
Member of the Armenian Environmental Front, Levon Galstyan, made a post on his Facebook page regarding the issue of Lake Sevan: "To understand the real causes of this situation, scientists need reliable and comprehensive data on the water quality of Lake Sevan, biodiversity, and all parameters of pollution sources over at least the last 20 years. If this data is not available, then all bodies that were supposed to provide it should be held accountable. If the data exists and has been concealed from the public, then those who hid it should face responsibility.
The individuals or organizations that fail to clean the coastal areas properly or at all should also be held criminally liable. Those who artificially halted the rise of the lake level since 2012 should bear the consequences. Those delaying the renovation of the Arpa-Sevan tunnel must be held accountable.
In my humble opinion, it is imperative to immediately clean the coastal areas and the forest layers submerged underwater and rapidly increase the water level. Afterwards, we should move to the next steps: establishing sewage treatment plants, creating artificial fish farms, restoring fish stocks, and more."
