Details Released by Police Regarding Incident at Diamond Restaurant
On June 28, at 20:50, a 49-year-old woman working at a restaurant on Buzandi Street called the police, reporting that she had lost money and requested police assistance. This was stated by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
Officers from the Yerevan City Police’s Patrol Service Unit arrived at the restaurant, where the reporting woman approached them and stated that she had been assaulted. An operational group from the Central Division of the Police also went to the restaurant. The woman informed the police that a problem had arisen regarding money with the 24-year-old restaurant manager, and that violence had been used against her.
For clarification, the manager was summoned to the station but did not comply with the officers' legal demands, displaying inappropriate behavior. Other individuals joined her, resisting the police officers and demanding that they leave.
The police detained all individuals who resisted at the restaurant.
On June 29, at 00:25, the reporting woman stated that the manager had physically forced her to the restaurant's dressing room and deprived her of her right to move freely for about five minutes. After that, the manager and two other individuals restricted her freedom of movement for about 20 minutes during which she was assaulted.
A criminal case has been initiated on several counts. A forensic examination has been appointed. The manager has been arrested.
