Historical Moment: Trump Becomes the First U.S. President to Step Foot on North Korean Soil
The meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has commenced in the demilitarized zone of the Korean Peninsula, as reported by The Guardian. The encounter aims to foster collaborative efforts towards establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Trump arrived at the meeting venue accompanied by South Korean President Moon Jae-in and waited over an hour for his North Korean counterpart to arrive. Reports indicate that Trump is the first sitting U.S. president to set foot on North Korean territory.
This marks the first meeting between the two leaders since February. Their previous meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam had abruptly ended without reaching an agreement on negotiation topics.
