Lawyers of Robert Kocharyan Have Not Received the Appeals Court's Decision

The legal team of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, has yet to receive the Appeals Court's decision regarding the suspension of the criminal case against him. This was stated to Panorama.am by the spokesperson of the legal team, Elina Sahakyan.

“The court's decision is being sent by mail. By the end of Friday, the lawyers had not received any information from the court about the decision being ready, despite informing that they were prepared to receive it in person at the court,” noted Sahakyan.

At the same time, Sahakyan informed that the lawyers had received the court’s decision on Robert Kocharyan's arrest the day after its publication, on June 26.

It is noteworthy that the Appeals Criminal Court, presided by Armen Danielyan, granted the appeals of the prosecutor, the victim, and the victim's representative Seda Safaryan on June 25. According to the court's decision, the personal guarantees provided by former and current Presidents of Artsakh for Robert Kocharyan were removed, and it was decided to apply detention as a measure of restraint.

Additionally, the court decided to annul the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan dated May 20, 2019, to refer to the Constitutional Court and suspend the proceedings of the case, and to send the given case back to the same court for a new examination.

Earlier, Robert Kocharyan's legal team announced that they were preparing to appeal the decisions of the Appeals Criminal Court.
