«Hraparak»: Who is the Third Largest Landowner in Armenia?

«Hraparak» newspaper reports that Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan made a remarkable statement in the National Assembly yesterday, stating that one of the community heads in Kotayk province is the third largest landowner in Armenia by the number of plots. He remarked, “I won't provide names, as a criminal case is currently underway.”

Although the mayor has everything in order on paper, morally, he noted, “we know that it’s not okay.” He further explained that the land parcels were appropriated at half the cadastral value. The land code allows for prices to be set at up to 50 percent of the cadastral value, and they have exploited this provision.

It was revealed that the individual in question is Frontik Tevosyan, the mayor of Nor Geghi, who had held the position since 1986 but resigned last summer.
