Pashinyan's Call to Block Court Entrances and Exits Was Legal, Rustam Badasyan

The newly appointed Minister of Justice, Rustam Badasyan, believes that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's call to block the entrances and exits of courts was legal. He made this statement during a conversation with journalists following a government meeting.

“The Prime Minister's stated position regarding what purpose it pursued was not illegal in that context,” he said.

When asked if any citizen could call for the blocking of court entrances and exits, he replied, “No, because in the case of the Prime Minister, the meaning of the action was specifically outlined, and the action itself could not intervene in the activities of the courts.”

In response to a reporter's question, “If I make the same call as Pashinyan did—to block the ministry building, for example—would that call be considered an action, or not?” Badasyan answered, “It depends on many circumstances. You are presenting a specific situation, and I, as a lawyer, cannot provide a theoretical answer to a specific question. You can describe theoretical scenarios, but I will not respond to those theoretical descriptions. You asked me about that particular blockade, and I answered that clearly.” He added that he would not respond to theoretical questions.
