I See No Grounds for Subjecting Judge Armen Danielyan to Disciplinary Responsibility - Rustam Badasyan

The newly appointed Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan sees no grounds for subjecting Judge Armen Danielyan, who handled the appeals in the case of Robert Kocharyan and others, to disciplinary responsibility. He stated this during a briefing with reporters, addressing the issue of Danielyan's court ruling made without hearing the objections of the defense side.

“There are specific reasons defined by the judicial code for imposing disciplinary responsibility on a judge. I see no grounds for initiating disciplinary proceedings,” he said, adding that it is not correct for him to assess the judge's conduct as right or wrong.

It is worth recalling that on June 20, Judge Armen Danielyan of the Court of Appeals made a decision to retreat to the deliberation room to make decisions regarding the appeals without hearing the objections from Robert Kocharyan’s defenders. Five days later, Danielyan decided to detain Robert Kocharyan, who had been released on personal guarantee by the former and current presidents of Artsakh, canceling the initial ruling by Judge Davit Grigoryan, which had suspended the proceedings in the case against Kocharyan and others, and sent the case for new examination.
