For Many Years We Have Made Concessions to You and Conducted Negotiations: Zakir Hasanov
During a meeting in Washington between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the parties agreed to reduce incidents of ceasefire violations. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, in an interview with Azerbaijani Real TV.
“As you know, a meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia took place in Washington on June 20. The Armenian side has constantly raised the issue that in order to conduct negotiations effectively, it is necessary to build trust and minimize gunfire at the front. The parties discussed these issues, and let’s say the gunfire at the front has decreased. If the issue is building trust, then, please, we have gone to that as well for the purpose of resolving the issue,” said Hasanov.
According to him, the Azerbaijani side has been conducting peaceful negotiations for many years. “Are you talking about peaceful resolution, about solving the issue through negotiations? Please. For many years we have been making concessions to you and conducting negotiations,” the Azerbaijani minister stated. He also emphasized that in 2016, Azerbaijan showed Armenia that it could resolve the conflict through other means.
