Arthur Danielyan's Statements Contain False Data: FIP

The leader of the Adequate Party, Arthur Danielyan, made several notable statements during the June 21 episode of the 'In Front of the Mirror' program on Kentron TV. Fip.am has fact-checked some of these claims to determine their accuracy.

On Freight Transport
Arthur Danielyan states: 'In January or February, I saw that our wholesale trade has increased by 30%, while automotive freight transport has decreased by 80%.' According to data published by the Statistical Committee, wholesale trade increased by 31.4% in January 2019 compared to January 2018, and by 12.3% in February. Regarding the volumes of automotive freight transportation, it is important to note that the Statistical Committee provides data for freight transport carried out by Armenian rolling stock, which, despite a decrease in January, did not drop by 80% as claimed by Danielyan, but by 43.7%. Interestingly, this figure showed an increase of 28.3% in February when compared to February 2018, and increased by 3.5 times compared to January.

On Industry and Electricity Consumption
Danielyan also remarks that 'industry is growing, while electricity consumption is decreasing by 30%. I understand that these numbers are simply fabricated.' However, industry grew by 4.5% from January to April 2019, and electricity production, transmission, and distribution actually decreased not by 30%, as Danielyan claims, but by 4.1% during the same period.
