60 Students Evacuated from Pedagogical University; 2 Students' Condition Deteriorates Due to Gas Odor, MoES Reports
On June 24, at 10:16 AM, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia received a call to the "911" service about a gas odor detected in the back of the Culture building of Khachatur Abovian Pedagogical University, located on A. Manukyan Street in Yerevan. It was reported that students' health was deteriorating and assistance from rescuers was needed.
A firefighting and rescue team was dispatched to the scene. Before the rescuers arrived, approximately 60 students and staff had been evacuated with the help of local efforts. The rescuers managed to evacuate 25 students and remained on site until the gas emergency service personnel arrived.
Two second-year students from the Cultural Management program, identified as S.K. (born in 2000) and A.M. (born in 2000), reported a decline in their health. Emergency medical staff provided S.K. with necessary medical assistance on-site, while A.M. was hospitalized. No gas leak was detected. Additional information will be provided.
