VIDEO: Protesters Storm Parliament Building in Tbilisi

Thousands of protesters are participating in a demonstration in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. According to RIA Novosti, police forces are attempting to remove around 100 protesters who have stormed the Parliament building. Georgia Online reports that police are not using special measures.

Earlier today, thousands of opposition members organized a protest near the Parliament building, demanding the resignation of the Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze, Interior Minister G. Gakharia, and head of the State Security Service Vakhtang Gomelauri.

The protests were sparked after Russian State Duma Deputy Sergey Gavrilov spoke from the chair of the Georgian Parliament, causing dissatisfaction among opposition members present in the hall.

The Russian delegation was escorted out by security personnel and taken to a minibus, while protesters hurled bottles and attempted to pour water on them. Following this, the demonstration began near the hotel hosting the Russian delegation, where participants demanded an apology from Gavrilov.
