VIDEO: Proceedings in the Appeals of Kocharyan and Others Continue
The hearings regarding the case of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, and others are underway at the Court of Criminal Appeals, chaired by Judge Armen Danielyan. Robert Kocharyan did not appear at today’s court session. His lawyer, Haik Alumyans, informed that he has notified the former president about the court session and that his stance remains unchanged, meaning he does not find it appropriate to participate in the proceedings, reports News.am.
During today’s session, the defenses will present their objections regarding the appeals of the prosecution and the injured parties. The Prosecutor General's Office and the injured party have appealed the ruling of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction from May 18, which amended the preventive measure of detention selected against Robert Kocharyan, as well as the court's decision from May 20 to suspend the proceedings of the criminal case and refer it to the Constitutional Court. The prosecutors are demanding to change the personal guarantee selected for Robert Kocharyan and detain him, while requesting the annulment of the court's decision to suspend the proceedings and the establishment of a new judicial act.
