Video: Government's Work Cannot Be Assessed Any Other Way Than Brilliantly – Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated during the discussion of the 2018 budget execution in the National Assembly that 2018 was an unprecedented year in terms of the budget in world history. "I seriously doubt that anything like this has ever happened in any other country," he said.
Pashinyan recalled that in 2018, Armenia held presidential, prime ministerial, and Yerevan mayoral elections, as well as the Velvet Revolution. "What do we have as a result of this year? A 5.2% economic growth, whereas the government that adopted the budget had projected a 4.5% economic growth. What are the issues in terms of the budget? The state budget has no unmet obligations. Macroeconomic stability has been fully maintained. If we approach it from this perspective, we can say that the government has performed brilliantly, because amidst all these political shocks, it has ensured a normal life for Armenia to the fullest extent," the prime minister stated.
He also noted that 2018 saw a global transition in the public administration system from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system, thus, according to the prime minister, the government’s work cannot be evaluated in any other way but brilliantly. Pashinyan announced that this year, a 7.1% economic growth has been recorded, which is the highest indicator in the EAEU region, and the revenue part of the state budget has been exceeded.
