Tsarukyan Tears Up Summons to Interrogation and Fails to Appear
The leader of the 'Prosperous Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, Gagik Tsarukyan, did not appear for questioning at the Investigation Committee yesterday at 18:30. Moreover, according to sources from Aysor.am, he tore up the summons received from a police officer and did not provide any information regarding his appearance before the law enforcement authorities.
Naïra Harutyunyan, head of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Investigation Committee, informed the media that Gagik Tsarukyan personally received the summons for questioning on June 11. "Gagik Tsarukyan did not inform the preliminary investigation body about the reasons for not appearing yesterday," Harutyunyan said.
The media attempted to obtain information from Iveta Tonoyan, spokesperson for the chairman of the Prosperous Armenia party, but she did not respond to calls.
It was previously reported that the Investigation Committee invited Tsarukyan for questioning in connection with statements made regarding the burning of the car belonging to one of the underlings of the 'My Step' candidate in Abovyan. Tsarukyan had mentioned that the incident was a "fabricated case." He stated, "If it is not solved, then our law enforcement agencies are not fully performing their duties. It must be solved, and the guilty parties must be absent from Abovyan. They are the 'mutilovchiks' who engage in such actions. This was a fabricated, contrived case. The Prime Minister must pressure to ensure this case is resolved," he said.
