Gagik Beglaryan Compensates 24 Billion Dram Damage to the State

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that in connection with the criminal case initiated under the "North-South" project, former Minister of Transport Gagik Beglaryan paid 200 million drams to the Investigative Committee's deposit account last week as a guarantee to cover the damages caused.

However, he is not a defendant in the case; the charges are against the director of a subcontractor company that carried out the asphalting work. This refers to the company "TerHayrapetyanShin," which was responsible for constructing certain sections of Tranche 1 of the project (Yerevan-Artashat and Yerevan-Ashtarak).

The company is accused of carrying out low-quality work. Additionally, during the investigation, information was obtained that the company had evaded paying substantial taxes, causing damages to the state amounting to approximately 24 billion drams.

According to sources, the company had a different actual director, but Beglaryan voluntarily paid on behalf of the company. He has promised to gradually repay the damages owed to the state.

Details are available in today’s issue of the newspaper.
