Petition Launched for Resignation of Lori Province Governor
A petition has been initiated calling for the resignation of Lori Province Governor Andrey Ghukasyan, led by David Gyulzadyan, a linguist and lecturer at Vanadzor State University. Gyulzadyan has called for the resignation process because, according to him, Governor Ghukasyan insulted journalist Narine Avetisyan.
His call is presented below:
“I urge the honorable citizens of Lori Province to gather for a petition demanding the resignation of Andrey Ghukasyan as governor. I gave Ghukasyan half an hour to publicly apologize to a woman, who is also a renowned journalist (Narine Avetisyan), for insulting her. I have also informed the Prime Minister of the Republic about this matter via a direct link.
Time has passed, and the governor has not complied with my reasonable demand as an honored citizen of the Republic, nor has he offered any corresponding false justification. This means that he does not serve the people of Lori Province, but rather dares to belittle them. So, I call upon all honorable compatriots concerned about the fate of Lori Province to organize a petition to demand his resignation from the Prime Minister of the Republic.
A year ago, a revolution began, but it has not produced results. Let us continue it, bringing it to a positive conclusion through the example of our province, dear people of Lori! A lowly person held captive by base passions has no right to be the leader of an entire province. Down with Andrey Ghukasyan!

Prior to this call, David Gyulzadyan had demanded that the governor apologize publicly to the journalist and had given 30 minutes for this.
“Andrey Ghukasyan, you dare to personally insult a woman who is also a famous journalist from your gubernatorial stand, while unlike you, she has not self-aggrandized and would not resort to such a low move while holding a position. I demand that you publicly apologize to Narine Avetisyan and to all residents of Lori Province for your unacceptable savagery. If you are lying, you call the person who exposes your disgraceful behavior a liar. I give you half an hour to obediently fulfill the just demand of an honored citizen of the Republic, otherwise, a severe and relentless campaign against your reputation will unfold.
This post is also being shared on my page, informing the Prime Minister of your official misconduct, as well as the fact that during the day you work as the governor, and in the evenings you engage with dental 'girdon.' You have only half an hour.”
It should be noted that yesterday, on June 11, Governor Ghukasyan responded to publications regarding new awards he received by stating on his Facebook page: “In response to publications in the press serving dark forces, I declare that I have not received any awards. Furthermore, I will no longer receive any. Henceforth, all such publications are false and are meant to mislead you, my dear Lori residents, and create a negative backdrop against me. For me, holding the high office of Governor of Lori Province is an honor, and I am ready to serve our province without a salary. I love you all.”
Under this post, journalist Narine Avetisyan published the governor's decision concerning awards and wrote, “Instead of dividing the community and the residents of your province into black and white, explain the essence of these documents.”
Governor Ghukasyan responded, “Dear, that is the previous award from March, what is there not to understand? I attributed your activity to the arrival of spring, but now it is summer. I understand that you live by me, your entire day is filled with me, but everything has its limits.”
