Former High-Ranking Police Officer Arrested Based on Testimony from Former Employee
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the arrest of Gegham Petrosyan, who served as the deputy commander of the Armenian police forces during the events of March 1, 2008, was based on the specific testimony of one of his former employees.
According to information received, one of the subordinate officers from the internal troops testified against G. Petrosyan, stating that it was his bullet that killed Zakhar Hovhannisyan.
It should be noted that yesterday, Petrosyan was charged and a motion was submitted to the court requesting to choose imprisonment as a measure of restraint. By late last night, the court had not yet issued its decision.
Furthermore, the Special Investigative Service has charged G. Petrosyan under the first part of Article 104 of the Criminal Code for intentionally causing the death of Z. Hovhannisyan by the use of firearms.
