Throwing Away a Burning Match: The Ministry of Emergency Situations Warns
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia warns:
“Dear citizens,
Due to the sharp rise in temperatures in the Republic, the risk of fires occurring and spreading in forested and adjacent vegetated areas is increasing.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges:
- Do not throw away a burning match or cigarette butt.
- Do not burn dry grass or household waste.
- Do not light bonfires. If absolutely necessary, this should be done in open areas, surrounded by at least a 0.5-meter strip of moist soil, and finally extinguished with water or covered with soil.
- Do not leave bottles or pieces of glass in clearings, as they can serve as burning lenses.
- Do not operate vehicles with defective fuel systems in forested areas.
- Do not leave (or throw away) rags soaked in oil, gasoline, kerosene, and other flammable liquids (except in designated places).
The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges everyone to follow fire safety regulations, avoid creating fire-risk situations, and exercise the utmost caution and alertness.”
