No Detailed Discussion on Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Resolution, Says Vladimir Karapetyan on Pashinyan-Putin Meeting
The meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg took place in a friendly atmosphere, and a number of bilateral issues of interest were discussed. This was stated by Prime Minister’s press secretary Vladimir Karapetyan during a conversation with reporters in St. Petersburg on June 6.
“The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a very important event, and we truly believe that our participation in such events at the highest level is crucial for our priorities. In addition to all the scheduled meetings that will take place tomorrow, today the Prime Minister met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This is part of regular meetings. Recently, there was also a bilateral working meeting with Putin in Nur-Sultan, and today there was a formal meeting. All issues on the bilateral agenda were addressed, particularly concerning economic cooperation. There was also discussion on military-technical cooperation programs, and both sides emphasized the need for their effective continuation, as well as summarizing the achievements and results that were implemented as a result of the agreements from recent meetings,” said Karapetyan.
The Prime Minister's spokesman noted that there was a reference to the issue of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but the discussions primarily revolved around economic agendas. “There was no detailed discussion on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict; it was simply noted that there is a general understanding regarding this issue,” the spokesman remarked.
According to Karapetyan, the meeting took place in a very friendly atmosphere. “The atmosphere was very friendly, and the sides were inclined to find solutions to all the issues of interest. Instructions were also given for both the intergovernmental commission to continue their work and for special groups to be formed on other issues where there is a need to achieve specific results,” he said.
