No Issue of Affectation: Batoian on Disability Status

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoian is aware of the discussions regarding her disability status circulating on social media, sparked by photos of her standing that have been shared. During the 'Facebook Briefing' program of the 'Liberty' Radio Station, she mentioned that while she could have chosen not to address this issue since it is quite personal, she decided to respond to put an end to the rumors.

Batoian also noted that there are indeed photos of her standing on her social media pages, which is not a secret.

“It is easier and safer to move outside in a wheelchair, and it allows for greater independence. Otherwise, I constantly need assistance because walking tires me, and I require help for support, holding on to someone, and so on. Disability does not only mean being in a wheelchair, and using a wheelchair does not mean that a person cannot walk or stand. Naturally, there is no issue of affectation; we just need to be less susceptible to manipulative news,” she elaborated.
