Protest Action: Residents of Four Aragatsotn Communities Block Yerevan-Vanadzor Highway

Residents of four communities in Aragatsotn Province—Karb, Ohanavan, Ushi, and Artashavan—are currently staging a protest. They have blocked the Yerevan-Vanadzor highway, demanding that the government address the issue of proper replenishment of anti-hail stations.

In an interview with Aysor.am, Karb village mayor Karo Baghdasaryan stated that the residents are requesting the replenishment of anti-hail missiles.

“The stations are in place, but the government has not acquired missiles this year; only the missiles left over from last year are being used. The staff of the station have informed us that these will not be enough for the entire season, and the hail threat season is still ahead. Our region produces about 50 thousand tons of fruit,” said the village mayor, adding that the anti-hail station installed in their area covers approximately 15 thousand hectares.

Karo Baghdasaryan reported that they have notified the government about the issue, relevant specialists from the executive have arrived and familiarized themselves with the situation on site, however, no concrete steps have been taken yet.
