Arthur Danielyan Demands Release of Video Recording of His Involvement in 'Incident'
I not only deny the accusation but also state that Arthur Ispiryan from the 'My Step' faction of the Yerevan Council is lying. This was announced by Arthur Danielyan, founder of the 'Adequate' NGO, in a conversation with NEWS.am.
"I not only deny it but I also say that Arthur Ispiryan is lying, moreover, I demand the release of the so-called video recording of the 'incident' because every square meter of that part of the city is under surveillance. I demand that this video of the 'scuffle' be published, and I will bear the punishment," he noted.
According to Danielyan, the police summoned him for explanations, but he refused to go to the police.
This action he connects to his political activities: "I associate this with my political activity. Yesterday we held a protest against the institution that staged a coup in Armenia and its main sponsors, who organized the overthrow of the constitutional order in Armenia. In response, the authorities decided to spread slander and exert pressure on us through law enforcement agencies. Arthur Ispiryan merely received instructions, and the main disseminators of that slander have been articles from the newspaper of the 'My Step' faction member," he added.
Danielyan does not deny that they were in the Cascade area with 20 people but insists that none of them assaulted Arthur Ispiryan.
Earlier, Armlur.am reported that, according to its sources, on May 20, a group of individuals approached 'My Step' faction council member Arthur Ispiryan in the Cascade area, pulled him, and hurled insults at him. Ispiryan did not deny that an incident occurred. "I was sitting in a restaurant in the Cascade area when 20 people approached. I recognized one; they are filing a report with Narek Malayan. I was sitting with kids when he came up to me and said, 'You are lucky to be sitting with the kids.' I asked what would have happened if I were alone, and he said, 'You’d see.' Nothing else happened—just a fight and insults. What right do they have to do such a thing when I was sitting with the kids? 20 people in black clothes approached, attacked, and used such expressions. What could they have done to me if I were alone? They feel free in this city. They know that I am from 'My Step,' they know that I have been involved since the first day of the revolution, and that has enraged them. I don’t know what they are thinking. They are paid and feel secure. Walking around the city like this with 20 people. They even write the phrase 'Lying Nikol' on the walls. They should be held criminally liable just for that. They were probably lucky because I was with the kids, just so you know. No one has had such hostility toward me as those thugs have," Ispiryan said. According to the website, the discussion refers to Arthur Danielyan, a close associate of Malayan.
