Collision Between Opel and Honda Near Defense Ministry Base Results in Injuries
A major traffic accident occurred today, May 17, in the Shirak region. According to shamshyan.com, at around 16:40, at the intersection of Sasuntsi David and Gharibjanian streets in the city of Artik, a collision took place between an Opel vehicle with license plate 36 CO 593 and a Honda vehicle with license plate 35 CO 175, right in front of the Armenian Ministry of Defense base.
As a result of the accident, four individuals were injured and transported to medical centers—two to Gyumri and two to the Artik medical center.
The first responders included community police officers from the Artik division, soldiers from the base, and local citizens.
Traffic police officers from the 2nd unit of the 2nd military battalion, led by battalion commander Vache Malakyan and platoon commander Rafael Asryan, arrived at the scene.
The information about the accident was reported by the duty officer Yura Hovhannisyan from the Traffic Police's operational management center 1-77 to the police department in Artik, from where an operational group arrived led by the department head Mino Mkhtaryan and the deputy head Sukias Grigoryan.
Investigative works at the scene are being managed by senior investigator Armen Poghosyan from the 2nd unit of the 2nd military battalion, who is preparing materials regarding the incident.
The police are working to identify the drivers and the injured individuals.
Representatives from Rosgosstrakh insurance company also arrived at the scene promptly.
As a result of the collision, the Honda vehicle was propelled forward and collided with an Opel vehicle parked in front of the base, with license plate 34 AA 950, which then crashed into another parked vehicle, an Opel Vectra with license plate 34 VF 932.
