American Law Enforcement Raids Venezuelan Embassy
Law enforcement officials in the United States have raided the Venezuelan embassy to arrest protestors opposing the occupation of the building. This information was reported by a participant in the protest, according to РИА Новости.
“The police have currently entered the embassy to arrest supporters of the Embassy Protection Collective,” activist Medea Benjamin wrote on her Twitter page.
The Venezuelan embassy is located in one of Washington D.C.'s most prestigious neighborhoods, Georgetown. For several weeks, activists from American non-governmental organizations who support Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro have occupied the building.
Venezuelan diplomats had previously left the U.S. at the request of the Secretary of State. Maduro has expressed gratitude to American activists, declaring his “deep admiration” for their efforts.
