13-Year-Old Pregnant Girl Allegedly Raped by Classmates in Armavir Region
A 13-year-old girl has become pregnant in the Baghramyan community of the Armavir region, with relatives claiming she was raped by two classmates. The girl's pregnancy was revealed by her mother five months later when the child was taken to a hospital in Vagharshapat, as reported by Tert.am.
"My child cannot recall specifically when the incident occurred, on which day. After classes, the children stayed for cleaning duty. They stayed after class every Friday," said the girl's mother, adding that she has twin daughters attending the same class, who remained with two male classmates after lessons.
"One of the sisters went to take out the trash after sweeping the class and returned to find the classroom door locked," she explained.
According to the mother, when the sister knocked on the door and called for help, there was no response from anyone in the school. "She knocked again, and when the door was opened, the classmates threatened her, saying if you tell anyone, we will kill both of you. They also said that they had kept her mouth shut and raped her," she said.
The mother stated that her daughter has mental health issues, receives a first-degree disability pension, and has intestinal problems. "I noticed she had gained weight, her body changed, and I realized something was wrong. I took her to the hospital, and it turned out she was pregnant. I don’t know what happened to me, what was going on; I came to my senses, and we were already at the Vagharshapat police station with my daughter," she added.
"For the last four days, they have been taking me and my child back and forth. They checked her at the first hospital in Yerevan, taking nine tests. The doctors said there are no injuries or tears, so the pregnancy is due to a child of her age. We tell those boys, and they say the results are not in yet to confirm it’s them. No one has said anything to those boys; they are not summoned to any department or elsewhere. We feel abandoned, and no one is standing by us, treating us this way," she emphasized.
The mother also mentioned that she has a 15-year-old son with mental health issues who is in a children’s home in Kharberd. "We went to the police for three days and were told nothing. Now they are trying to blame my son, as if he did it. Yesterday, they summoned me from the police, and I asked, 'Did you take a bribe to want to pin this on my son?'" she noted.
According to her, they are being unnecessarily harassed. "They don’t say they are in a difficult situation; no one from the school has come to my house to check on us. The police only harass us, and nothing is done to those boys. A DNA test should be conducted to understand whose child this is. They say it will take three to four months, but how could they quickly examine my daughter? They should know who the father is, but they say it will take three to four months for those boys’ DNA. How could it be that they could quickly test my daughter? They harass us every day. I don’t have enough money to take my children back and forth; there is no opportunity. They continue to torture us like this,” she concluded.
The police public relations department informed Tert.am that materials regarding the incident are being prepared at the Vagharshapat police station, and the circumstances are under investigation.
