Boxing Federation President Artur Gevorgyan Appeals to Prosecutor's Office
The President of the Armenian Boxing Federation, Artur Gevorgyan, has announced on his Facebook page that he has appealed to the prosecutor's office demanding the initiation of a criminal case against the Deputy Minister of Sports.
“Dear friends, it became clear from the press conference of acting Minister of Sports and Youth Gabriel Ghazaryan that he does not want to comply with the court's decision and the legal requirements, which entails liability under the Armenian Criminal Code,” Gevorgyan wrote.
“On May 14, 2019, we appealed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia to initiate a criminal case based on the intentional non-fulfillment of a judicial act by an official,” he added.
Previously, the president of the Boxing Federation stated that the unlawfulness of the Ministry of Sports and Youth has been partially resolved and that the funding for the boxing federation will continue.
It is noteworthy that on August 2, 2018, Artur Gevorgyan was re-elected as the President of the Armenian Boxing Federation. Gevorgyan was the sole candidate and was elected with 58 votes in favor, 0 against, and 0 abstentions. He has held the presidency of the ABF since November 2013.
Later, disagreements arose, as some boxers and coaches claimed that the elections were held with violations, while the Olympic Committee suspended the Boxing Federation's membership in the organization.
