US Warns of Potential Terror Attacks During Eurovision
The US Embassy in Israel has issued a warning regarding the potential for terrorist acts during the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Tel Aviv.
An official statement from the embassy's website referenced recent rocket attacks from Palestine, noting that the song contest will occur from May 14 to 18, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem on May 14. The embassy's opening was associated with protests that took place in Gaza last year.
It is also known that on May 15, Palestinians commemorate Nakba Day, which is linked to their displacement from their lands in 1948, the same year that the state of Israel was established on those territories.
American diplomats indicate that terrorists may exploit the commotion surrounding the song contest to carry out attacks.
