Details on the Death of a Soldier Today: Official

On May 14, 2019, around 16:30, during a training exercise at Military Unit N of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, due to initial reports of violating the rules for operating combat vehicles, a "Ural-4310" vehicle overturned, resulting in the death of the vehicle commander, conscript soldier, junior sergeant Ararat Simon’s Khetchumyan due to the injuries sustained.

This information was reported by the Investigative Committee.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated in the sixth garrison investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Part 2 of Article 377 of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.

It is recalled that earlier, Artsrun Hovhannisyan had reported that soldier Ararat Khetchumyan from the Kapan Military Unit had died as a result of an unfortunate accident. "With deep sorrow, I must inform you that today, in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of a preliminary unfortunate incident, soldier Ararat Simon’s Khetchumyan, born in 1999 in Kapan, has died. We extend our condolences to Ararat Khetchumyan's family," he wrote.
