Large Car Rally Against Amulsar Mine Exploitation
A large car rally against the exploitation of the Amulsar mine has started from Yerevan today.
According to a correspondent from NEWS am, participants of the rally are gathering in the Areni community by car from various regions, after which they will move towards Jermuk, where a large public gathering is planned.
In a statement issued by the organizers of the car rally and public gathering, it is stated: “Residents of the Jermuk community have halted the mining project underway in Amulsar for 11 months since June 22. To protect our community from impending dangers and risks, we have stood night and day at the roads leading to Amulsar for almost a year. Almost a year later, the Jermuk community and all those who oppose the exploitation of the AMULSAR metal mine are taking to the streets to reaffirm their decision made months ago. In exercising our constitutional rights, in addition to the approximately 3000 signatures from the Jermuk community, we feel the need to once again send a message to the Government that the voice of the Jermuk community and the rights of its residents must be heard and taken into account during decision-making. The agenda for the public gathering will be announced later. Both the rally and the car procession are of a peaceful nature. In Kechut dialect: ‘Mina – chi patsvilо’.”
