Bicycle Bodyguard: 'If I Were to Allow Such a Thing, the State Would Flatten Me on the Asphalt'
Gevorg Petrosyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), addressed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's arrival by bicycle at a park opening in a Facebook post.
He stated, "The charm of riding a bicycle is freedom. It truly is. Isn't it pleasant to ride a bicycle escorted by a bodyguard and government vehicles, blocking streets and paralyzing traffic?"
"Only one person can explain that 'charm'... and that person is not me, but rather the individual who speaks of equality before the law for all. It's interesting, if I were to allow myself such a thing (blocking the busiest street in the capital with vehicles and being followed by several cars, causing delays for people rushing to work due to my 'bright' imagination), how would the state treat me? Would they flatten me on the asphalt, or at least throw me against the walls?"
"Who else in Armenia could afford such extravagance? Well, of course, only one person—the supreme authority of the 'new Armenia', the Prime Minister... I want to say, Mr. Prime Minister, it is time to get serious and start the economic revolution... We are late..."
