Brothers Who Aided Victims of Crashed Gazelle Taxi Awarded

On May 8, the Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Felix Tsolakyan, met with 16-year-old twin brothers Samvel and Albert Hayrapetyan, who were the first to assist passengers of a route taxi involved in a major traffic accident on Rubinyants Street in Yerevan on May 6.

It is noteworthy that on May 6, at 19:47, the Emergency Call Service received a report of a traffic accident near the "Yerevan City" supermarket on Rubinyants Street in Yerevan. A Gazelle vehicle had collided with a pillar and caught fire.

The boys quickly assessed the situation, opened the door, and helped the other passengers escape from the burning taxi. “You have done a great job, boys! Unfortunately, such accidents usually result in casualties, but thanks to your actions, we were able to avoid fatalities. Your approach and actions are extremely commendable and praiseworthy,” stated Felix Tsolakyan.

Expressing gratitude to the day’s heroes, Minister Tsolakyan emphasized that the Ministry of Emergency Situations places great importance on public awareness in disaster prevention, the correct actions and behaviors of people during accidents and disasters. He noted that if courageous, willing, and knowledgeable individuals like the boys are present during each incident, the number of tragedies can be significantly reduced.

Felix Tsolakyan awarded the Hayrapetyan brothers with certificates of appreciation for “providing first aid to citizens and demonstrating courage,” urging them to never forget the reasons for their recognition and to maintain the established standard.
