The 'Zone Watcher' Organizing iPhone Thefts: Details
Recently, the National Security Service (NSS) announced that it has uncovered dozens of cases of a convict stealing property (mobile phones, tablets, and other valuable items) through fraud. It turns out that the inmate organized a criminal group, whose members, after contacting individuals advertising mobile phones and other items for sale on the List.am website, manipulated their trust by offering a high price for the goods, agreeing to meet, and then deceitfully stealing their property.
According to ArmDaily.am, the inmate in question is Spartak Danielyan, a 'zone watcher' at the 'Armavir' prison, who has previously been convicted for similar offenses. He is held under relatively privileged conditions, with an open cell door, and other inmates are subject to his authority.
The media outlet has also learned that Spartak Danielyan's father is affiliated with the Republican Party of Armenia and held a high position in the municipality.
Reports indicate that Spartak Danielyan is constantly under the scrutiny of law enforcement, having been repeatedly convicted in numerous fraud cases. Even while incarcerated, he has caused problems, once breaking the prison's sink, shattering the window panes, hitting the walls with them, and then setting fire to his mattress and pillow, causing damage to the prison. Notably, on April 5, 2016, he escaped from the Center Court of Yerevan, and during his approximately 25 days of freedom, he continued his fraudulent activities, stealing phones, computers, tablets, and other items from another 13 victims.
