Unexploded Mortar Shell Discovered in Backyard of Village House; Sappers Deployed

On May 2, at 12:08 PM, the Armenian Emergency Situations Ministry received information via the 911 service regarding an unexploded anti-tank mine buried in the backyard of a house on Aram Manukyan Street in the village of Goravan, Ararat Province. The owner of the property, identified as H.K., reported the finding, prompting the need for sappers' assistance for its discovery and neutralization.

An operational group from the Emergency Situations Ministry's regional rescue department and an engineering unit from the civil defense forces collective center were dispatched to the scene.

The sappers identified a 60 mm caliber unexploded mortar shell.

The rescue teams cordoned off the area and maintained a watch until 8:00 PM.

The commander of the engineering sapper company of the Armenian Ministry of Defense’s N military unit neutralized the shell.
